Benefit For Merle (Red) Taylor

On November 9, 1986 a benefit was given for Merle 'Red' Taylor in Tupelo, MS. It was organized and given by Buddy and Kay Bain, who were well known Radio and Television personalities of the area. Merle 'Red' Taylor was a well known Fiddle Player, locally as well as in the Bluegrass and Country Music Circuit. He played with Bill Monroe as one of the Bluegrass Boys in the 1950's. He was also a songwriter. He wrote 'Little Miss Blue Eyes', which was his best known. He also composed the Fiddle Part for Mr. Monroe's 'Uncle Pen', which was written by Mr. Monroe. Also performing at the Benefit was Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys, Jim and Jessie and the Virginia Boys, Gordon Terry and his band, Buddy and Kay Bain and many other guest. Gordon Terry and Red Taylor worked together with Mr. Monroe, and each of them have also played with many other Country Bands in their younger years.
